i looked up at the sky, and although dark and cloudy, suddenly, the hustle and bustle of the city stopped. the sirens, people yelling, and speeding cars all became mute. and this moment of silence and peace covered me like a blanket. within a quick second (that felt like minutes), i closed my eyes then opened them to a rush of a busy urban world.
new york city, new york.april 2012.
(edit: I’m not really a fan of this photo I took, but i felt it illustrated the feeling… being in manhattan for a few days is an anxiety attack and a half. so fast pace, so busy, very stressful… surrounded by buildings. looking up at the sky was a stress relief. put me in perspective as a human in the natural world. rather than one created by man. i find peace in silence, in nature… and so much of that peace and silence i find in the sky.. which is why i love big open fields, or being on top of mountains.)
